Canadian has Brown Heifer 4/29/12

The green tagged Canadian cow had a brown heifer.  She had gone over the fence to have the calf out in a nice dry hay field.  They are off to a good start.

4/16/12- Two More!

#4 had chocolate pointed white heifer and hadn't cleaned yet and walking with difficulty.

#18 had a white heifer with red points

First 2012 Babies

Mama #6 had the first twins this population of cows has ever seen.  Appear to be two bulls with white points.  Didn't get too close because mama is not sure she wants both of them!  One of last years calves is trying to figure out what in the world is going on while her mother is struggling to deliver another newborn.  #6 is a good mom- she found one of the few snow free spots in the pasture to be alone.

November Cow Exchange

November 15 Whitestone took five of the heifers from the 2010 calf crop.  They want to conduct a feed test to verify the efficiency of the Galloway genetics.  The girls were 22 W, 23 B, 24 B, and another White and a Black that lost their collars.

Snow

This has been the year for snow.  It piled so high that the cows were able to walk right out over the fences.  In the background is my crowding tub and squeeze chute almost completely invisible.

Even in the middle of April there are still twelve foot drifts covering completely the two forty foot conexes and truck with box van where we process the meat!
