Sitkinak Cattle Company Visit
Last week I enjoyed visiting the custom mobile slaughter and processing facility on Sitkinak Island. It was very instructive to learn how they handle these wild cattle that go back to the days of the Russians. There were a lot of techniques we can apply directly to our own slaughter facility that will hopefully speed things up if we get it going for next year.
The driveway to the farm is almost hidden so we solved that problem by planting a 24 foot carrot at the entrance. You can learn more about Wolverine Farm at www.wolverinefarm.com
Three Generations- 1987
Four Generations- 1999
The Ralph and Maxine progeny have evolved into a family with international roots that include Korea, Scotland, and India. In like fashion, the products of Wolverine Farm have expanded from potatoes and dairy to carrots, beef, eggs, berries and a broad spectrum of products. It has morphed from a sole proprietorship to an umbrella that covers a variety of businesses that market directly, through farmer's markets, and through commercial outlets.
